Covid Update January 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

As promised, here is an overview of the additional measures that we are taking in school to reduce the risk of community transmission of Covid-19 and how you can help.

Our priority is to continue with enhanced hygiene and handwashing controls in school.  This means that children will be asked to sanitise or wash their hands regularly throughout the day including on arrival and before moving in or out of class and of course when they have used the toilet.

Staff and visitors in school are wearing face-coverings when moving around the site and where social distancing is not possible.  The Government currently does not require teachers or children to wear masks in lessons, however teacher or Teaching Assistants may choose to do so.

We are reducing the opportunities for children to mix beyond their own classes by zoning off areas in the playground, returning to virtual assemblies, staggering lunch breaks and making minor changes to arrival and departure times.

You can help us by:

  • Not sending your child to school with symptoms, no matter how mild without a negative PCR test
  • Not attending the site yourself if you have been told to isolate
  • Wearing a face-covering at all times whilst on site
  • Reducing the number of adults accompanying your child to school to 1 per family
  • Continuing to maintain social distancing even when wearing a face-covering
  • Sticking to the one-way system

Arrival and Departure Times

For the next couple of days, senior leaders and I will be monitoring the flow of parents through arrival gates and asking you to wait at busy times.

CHANGES TO ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES

We want to give you due notice that from Monday 10th January, we will be returning to staggered arrival and departure times.  This will affect you in the following ways:

Single child arrivals 8.45 am to 8.50 am

Multiple Children / Family arrivals 8.50 am to 9 am

In particular, we hope that this will address the accumulation of large numbers of adults outside Reception and Year One doors.

The same will apply at home time:

Single child pick-up from 3.05 pm

Multiple Children / Family pick-up from 3.10 pm

Upper Years children will be returning to designated departure doors e.g. Hall and community room

ROADWORKS

We have been made aware that Ambleside will be closed between 9.30 am and 2.30 pm for one week from Monday 10th January.
