Christmas Information 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

Christmas is a magical time at Silver Springs and this year we are determined to ensure that is the case!  However, Covid has not gone away and as we know it is difficult to predict what may happen between now and the end of term.  We have planned some adapted versions of our traditional favourites to try to minimise transmission.  Of course, we do not know for certain what the next few weeks will bring, so things may need to change!!   If the school has an outbreak or cases rise in the local area, we will follow the guidance of Public Health.   Please see the Early Christmas News below, which will be followed with more details as we get nearer to the festive period.

Christmas Activity Afternoon for KS1 and KS2

Unfortunately, this year we are unable to invite parents into classes to take part in Christmas Crafts with their child, but we will still have an afternoon of festive fun with the children, this will take place on 20th December.

Christmas Cards

We know that children like to send cards to their friends.  In the spirit of having an eco-friendly Christmas, this year we would like to invite your child to send one big card to the whole of their class with a festive message.  We will read out the messages and display the cards around the classroom for everyone to see!  We love homemade cards!

FESTIVE FRIDAY!!!

Christmas Jumper Day will go ahead as normal on Friday 10th DecemberChildren are invited to

wear their Christmas jumper or top and give a donation to the Save the Children fund.

Christmas Dinner

On Friday 10th December, to coincide with Christmas Jumper Day, we will be inviting all children to join us for a traditional Christmas dinner!  This will be available to ALL children, we will contact parents with further details of how to book a dinner for children on packed lunches.

SANTA DASH

Also, on Friday 10th December, we will be taking part in a bit of festive fitness fun, with our SANTA DASH!  Children are invited to wear a Santa Hat and trainers with their Christmas Jumper on the day!  Each class will run an age appropriate distance on the school site at various points through the day – can’t wait to see those photos!

Christmas Party

This we can do!  We will NOT however be able to do the usual Party Lunch, so children will have their normal lunch on the day, but all the festive fun and games will happen as usual but within their classroom.  Children are invited to come to school in their party clothes for the day.  This will take place on the last day, Tuesday 21th December.   And if the children are good, we might even get a visit from Father Christmas!

Christmas Play and Christmas Fair

We have three Christmas Performances planned!  Year 5, Year 3 (with KS1 classes) and Reception. Following guidance from Public Health and in consultation with Mrs Hughes and her team at Arlies, all performances at both schools will be scaled back from what they were pre-pandemic.  We have agreed that the safest way to avoid over-crowding in the hall is to limit the number of seats available to 60.  We have made these decisions in the interest of keeping all our families as safe as possible and avoiding Christmas Covid!  We will record the performances for families to watch again and again at home.  IMPORTANT: IF PUBLIC HEALTH GUIDANCE CHANGES IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO CANCEL LIVE PERFORMANCES AT SHORT NOTICE.

Sadly, there will be no Christmas Fair this year, but your family’s nativity ticket will be entered into a prize draw for one of three hampers

Thank you for your understanding, let’s hope it’s the kind of Christmas we are all hoping for!

Mrs Mason
