Dear Parents and Carers
Christmas is a magical time at Silver Springs and this year we are determined to ensure that is the case! But sadly, Covid-19 safety measures make some of our traditions impossible. But all is not lost!! Where we can do it, we will! And where we can’t, we have something else planned!
Please see the important dates below, which will be followed with more details as we get nearer to the festive period. Of course, we do not know for certain what the next few weeks will bring so things may need to change!! Unfortunately, this is something that we have all become accustomed to this year!
Christmas Activity Afternoon
Unfortunately, this year we are unable to invite parents in to the Upper Years to take part in Christmas Crafts with their child, but we will still have an afternoon of festive fun with the children.
We know that children like to send cards to their friends, but this would lead to cross-contamination between households. This year we would like to invite your child to send one big card to the whole of their class with a festive message. We will have a quarantine system for this and then we will read out the messages and display the cards around the classroom for everyone to see!
Christmas Jumper Day
Christmas Jumper Day will go ahead as normal on Friday 11th December. Children are invited to wear their Christmas jumper or top and give a donation to the Save the Children fund.
Unfortunately, the logistics of serving a full Christmas lunch with all our COVID measures is not going to be possible this year. So instead, we have decided to mix things up a little! On Friday 11th December, to coincide with Christmas Jumper Day, we will be inviting all our children to join us for a Festive Lunch! Hot Roast Turkey Butties will be the order of the day (with a suitably festive Veggie Alternative) and some festive sides and yummy chocolate log! This will be available to ALL children and their teachers will join them for this festive event!
This we can do! We will NOT however be able to do the usual Party Lunch, so children will have their normal lunch on the day, but all the festive fun and games will happen as usual but within their class bubble. Children are invited to come to school in their party clothes for the day. This will take place on the last day, Friday 18th December. And if they are good, we might even get a visit from Father Christmas!
Christmas Plays and Christmas Fair
I am sure that you have guessed that it will not be possible to invite parents into the school to watch Christmas Performances this year or to hold our usual Christmas Fair. We are as sad and disappointed about this as you must be. So, rather than simply replace the traditional plays with a virtual version, in true Silver Springs style, we have something very different planned, that all of your household can enjoy!! We are very excited to announce that our “Christmas Window Wanderland” will take place on Wednesday 16th December, in the evening – please keep this evening free in your diaries and keep your fingers crossed that no further restrictions prevent us from going ahead! More details soon!!
I hope that this gives you a taste of the festive fun we have planned and that the dates help you to make your plans well in advance. Until then, let’s do everything that we can to keep each other safe so that we can all enjoy the best Christmas possible with our families.
Stay home and stay safe
