My name is Miss Davies and I am a Year 5 teacher at Silver Springs Primary Academy.
This is my first year at Silver Springs as a full-time, year five class teacher. However, I have taught across the whole primary age range in the eleven years that I have been a teacher. I have always taken an holistic approach to my teaching because I firmly believe that if the children in my care feel good about themselves, then they are in a much better position to flourish and reach their full potential. As such, pastoral care is always at the top of my agenda and I will support your child, in any way that I can, to grow their confidence and self-belief.
Through research projects at university, I became very interested in parental involvement and its correlated effect on pupil progress at school. Please feel free to contact me at any time throughout the year to discuss your child's progress and what measures you can take at home to help. Year 5 pupils must know their times tables to and their associated division facts e.g.
They also need to correctly spell all of the words included in the year statutory spelling list (icon ). Children will also be expected to use inference and deduction skills to answer increasingly difficult questions during whole-class and guided reading sessions. I recommend that your child reads as part of their nightly routine because the more your child reads, the more skills they will acquire to help them understand difficult texts. Please check that your child is reading by asking them questions about their book and only sign their reading log if they show understanding (icon for question prompts ).You can help further by ensuring that your child has their reading book in school every day.
I would like to thank you for your support so far this year and Iook forward to continuing to work closely to help your child reach their full potential.
If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to call in at the end of the school day and speak to me or contact me via Class Dojo.
