Our computing curriculum is a key part of the curriculum and is taught across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2.
Over the course of the year, every class will cover
The core knowledge within the new computing curriculum is based around computer science. Computer science involves coding, debugging and beginning to understand computer networking. We use a variety of different software, including apps on our Ipads to deliver this curriculum, including Scratch, Hopscotch, Tinytap and Tinker. Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through, information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.
IT skills are so important today and we teach our children to use technology correctly and purposefully. We use IT throughout the curriculum, whether that is creating a powerpoint, using the greenscreen to make advertisements or taking photographs using the iPads! Have a look at the gallery below to see some of our learning throughout the school.
The Digital literacy aspect of the computing curriculum focuses on using technology safely. At Silver Springs, educating our children in online safety is paramount to us. We have always taught the children many important skills about staying safe whilst using the internet and other communication technology.
